Steps to Success Signature Event

CROP’s Signature Event - Steps to Success: An Evening of Transformation, Leadership, and Hope

CROP’s Signature Event was a celebration of community, second chances, and the transformative power of opportunity. We brought together corporate executive, policy advocates, nonprofit leaders and nearly 100 justice impacted individuals to showcase the work CROP is doing to break the cycle of incarceration through career development, leadership training, and reentry support.

This year’s event included

  • A fireside chat between renowned journalist and CROP Board Member, Lisa Ling, and Larry Miller, Chairman of the Jordan Brand Advisory Board at Nike.

  • An intimate performance by the musical artist, JJ’88, who is featured in the award-winning Netflix documentary Songs From The Hole.

  • And, a surprise performance by Oakland’s own R&B queen Goapele, to cap off the evening.

Lisa Ling is an award-winning journalist, documentarian, and storyteller whose work has spanned the globe, giving voice to untold stories and advocating for greater understanding and empathy. As a member of CROP’s Board of Directors, Lisa brings her passion for justice, equity, and human dignity to our mission, using her platform to illuminate the complexities of the criminal justice system and inspire action.

Larry Miller is one of the most respected executives in sports and business, having led the iconic Jordan Brand to unprecedented growth and serving as President of the Portland Trail Blazers. Behind his success is a remarkable story of redemption: as a justice-impacted leader, Larry has been open about his past incarceration and the importance of creating pathways for others to succeed after prison. His journey embodies the belief that with opportunity and support, people can rewrite their futures and achieve greatness.
